I am Sam: Which Johnny Depp character are YOU?

You Are Sam From "Benny & Joon."

You are very talented at physical comedy. People are in awe of your abilities. However, you have many quirks which can either win people over or completely annoy them. But you're a sweetheart through and through, and it's hard not to love you.

Take The Johnny Depp Quiz!

Spending the Cost of Smoking

There's a really neat little net-thing put up by The Canadian Cancer Society called the Cost of Smoking Calculator.

I quit January 11 or so, entered a constest at the beginning of March called Driven to Quit. I want to win a flat panel TV because I already have the car of my dreams. Despite the unlikelihood of winning a TV, I guess I have saved some money of the past few months.

So maybe yesterday's binge at the Art Store could be justified? It turns out YES when I found out how much I would have spent on cigarettes.

Unfortunately, I think I'm using that reasoning to justify everything -the new pyjamas I didn't need; the sudden book-buying binge; - you know, spending the same hundred dollars three or four times?

Sigh. Oh well. I still feel better. So I win after all.

Gardening in the morning; skiing all afternoon

Let me put it this way: the gardening consisted of noticing a yellow viola this morning, and that wonderful wet mud smell in the air. (It's been almost three months that I've been off smoking, so I enjoy smelling things). Just a niplet of chill in the air and a cloudless blue sky - for the first time in too long. I'd just had a good workout with a trainer and was feeling fine.

Minor fright when friend and colleague called, and worried over the weather and snow conditions, and maybe cancelling. Talked her into it again. (She's damned glad she came out, too!)

Less than an hour away to the Family-Comfortable hill, and there wasn't a rock showing or a puddle to worry about. Bright white snow, bright blue sky and no time constraints. I had no idea you could see right across to the Blue Mountain resorts! Corn snow, so it's slower because it's heavier and stickier. Perfect for going slow, going fast, for taking the whole run in one swoop, for trying on moguls and black diamonds. And the best part? Skiing in a T-shirt.

Okay, so it was only once, but wow!

And then we hit an art store on too way home, and I spent too much.

So maybe this stay-at-home March Break wasn't so bad after all.

The perfect body

This is the battle of the refrigerator, every night. I think, okay, just one....and then I lose the battle completely and eat the dozen. Saudek's image is exactly what goes on in my head, yet he has managed to turn it into something very beautiful.

This one below is a positive celebration. This is what I hope Dove's Search for Real Beauty finds.
