Poisonous People

Why is it that I remember (and pain over) the horrible people and immediately forget all the wonderful, supportive folks?

Victoria Day

The May Two-Four weekend inaugurates the opening of provincial parks, which (used) to be accompanied by a traditional 24 of beer. It's a birthday party.

Last night, our goodly neighbours lit firecrackers (only available in the US) to celebrate.

It's officially the last frost-free planting date, so tomatoes can actually be planted in the Great White North.

Me? I'm in bed, reading a book, enjoying chocolate almond coffee, and delighted I don't have to go anywhere.

Wanted: One rogue

After almost three days of figuring out how to login in to this site (and they said I could solve problems?), I find out I need the guy whose site I found this on in the first place....Thanks, Ric!

You Are 60% Normal

(Really Normal)

Otherwise known as the normal amount of normal

You're like most people most of the time

But you've got those quirks that make you endearing

You're unique, yes... but not frighteningly so!

Mother's Day: Love, and all that

Just about every morning since Mom died, my husband holds me until I stop crying. Then we talk about work and kids and stuff and get on with our lives. This morning he said: "I guess you'll just have to settle for your Dad, me and Jamie....".

Sorry, boys, you're just not the same.

But if you'll read through this list of comments about "Love means..." that my cousin sent me, I think you'll get the sense of how important you ARE - at least to this little black duck.

------------------------

When someone loves you, the way they say your name is
different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of
your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."
Chrissy -age 6

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop
opening presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he
wears it everyday."
Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are
still friends even after they know each other so well."
Tommy - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."
Elaine-age 5

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and
little stars come out of you."
Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't
think it's gross."
Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it.
But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8

De temps en temps. c'est vrai

I had to do this twice. First time I was Dutch. But then I realized that was 20 years ago, and as I mature.......
