Gardening in the morning; skiing all afternoon

Let me put it this way: the gardening consisted of noticing a yellow viola this morning, and that wonderful wet mud smell in the air. (It's been almost three months that I've been off smoking, so I enjoy smelling things). Just a niplet of chill in the air and a cloudless blue sky - for the first time in too long. I'd just had a good workout with a trainer and was feeling fine.

Minor fright when friend and colleague called, and worried over the weather and snow conditions, and maybe cancelling. Talked her into it again. (She's damned glad she came out, too!)

Less than an hour away to the Family-Comfortable hill, and there wasn't a rock showing or a puddle to worry about. Bright white snow, bright blue sky and no time constraints. I had no idea you could see right across to the Blue Mountain resorts! Corn snow, so it's slower because it's heavier and stickier. Perfect for going slow, going fast, for taking the whole run in one swoop, for trying on moguls and black diamonds. And the best part? Skiing in a T-shirt.

Okay, so it was only once, but wow!

And then we hit an art store on too way home, and I spent too much.

So maybe this stay-at-home March Break wasn't so bad after all.
