No, I did NOT watch the inauguration...what's the fuss about?

Turns out our entire school watched it this morning, and this evening, one of my word-a-day claims that it is important for the whole world, including those proud to be of the US.





If it's that important, I shall hear all about it. I heard all about Shock and Awe; Watergate and got the afternoon off when Kennedy was assassinated. It's impossible NOT to hear what's "important" in the US.

I did, of course, ask why this inauguration is any more important than the last one, and the one before that, and so on and so forth. Now, in my mind, George Washington was an important one, so how does today's even measure up to that?





I was given two different answers as to why this one should be considered pivotal. One was because of the man's skin colour and the other because there is a genuinely great desire for change.





I sure hope this isn't of world wide importance due to colour (or even gender or religion or age or....) because I honestly had thought that great strides have been made to overlook certain differences between people. The moment you applaud one as the first female whatever, or the first Anglican, or the first fuschia person to...is the moment you draw attention to those differences we just worked so hard to eradicate.








So, let's make this a real hope for positive change. Er...I guess the economy would be a good start. Can you have that fixed by next week please?

One meltdown too many.

Time to leave while the memories are good....I thought.

Now, bad things are starting to become a LIST, so it's taking that much more effort to be positive until the end of this contract.

But, I did it. Come June, we'll not be seeing the inside of a classroom for a very long time........


Do I feel better? No. Scared? Yes.
